Prithviraj Sukumaran and other M-Town stars congratulate ‘Jallikattu’ team on being announced as India’s official entry to Oscars

Lijo Jose Pellissery’s ‘Jallikattu’ has been announced as India’s official entry for the

93rd Academy Awards

. ‘Jallikattu’ was chosen in the ‘International Feature Film’ category from the 27 entries which even included Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Gulabo Sitabo’. Lijo’s ‘Jallikattu’ also becomes the third Malayalam film after ‘Guru’ and ‘Adaminte Makan Abu’ to be selected as India’s official entry to the Oscars.

Congratulations are in order for Lijo Jose Pellissery and the whole team, from across the nation. Malayalam actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran, who has always been an advocate of novel changes in the industry was elated by the success that a Malayalam film has achieved and termed it as 'The Beginning'. “Huge congrats to #LijoJosePellissery and the entire team of #Jallikattu #TheBeginning,” Prithviraj Sukumaran tweeted.

‘Moothon’ filmmaker Geetu Mohandas called it a ‘proud moment for Malayalam cinema’. “Take a bow Lijo Jose Pellissery ����♥️♥️ Proud moment for Malayalam cinema!!!” she said in her social media post.

Tamil filmmaker Selvaraghavan too was thrilled to hear about ‘Jallikattu’ heading to the academy awards next year. "Watched and really loved #LijoJosePellissery @mrinvicible s film #Jallikattu very glad it has been selected as India's official entry for the #Oscars I think we have a good chance with this beauty of a movie,” he said.

Actors Indrajith Sukumaran, Vinay Forrt, Joju George and many others also took to their respective handles to congratulate the ‘Jallikattu’ team.

Featuring Antony Varghese Pepe, Chemban Vinod Jose, Sabumon Abdusamad, and Santhy Balachandran in pivotal roles, ‘Jallikattu’ is based on a story by S Hareesh. O Thomas Panicker has produced the film. Girish Gangadharan has cranked the lens and Deepu Joseph is the editor. Meanwhile, the 93rd Academy Awards will be held on April 25, 2021, in Los Angeles.
