Malayalam producer G Suresh Kumar has confirmed that he will be watching Mohanlal's Empuraan on its first day, calling the film’s release a grand celebration comparable to Thrissur Pooram. He also assured that his past conflict with Antony Perumbavoor has been resolved.
“Empuraan is undoubtedly a massive crowd-puller”In an interview with Manorama News, Suresh Kumar acknowledged that ‘Empuraan’ is one of the most anticipated films and wished for its success. He stated, "Empuraan is undoubtedly a massive crowd-puller. Let it be a big win. What me and Antony Perumbavoor had was a small fight. It’s over, and I am not even bothered about that."
He further admitted that while the dispute escalated significantly, he has completely moved past it.
What was the issue? The disagreement began when Antony Perumbavoor publicly criticized Suresh Kumar’s call for a reduction in actors' remuneration. The post sparked a major industry debate, leading to the Film Chamber issuing a show-cause notice to Antony, asking him to remove the post or face disciplinary action. Antony later complied and deleted it.
Tensions further escalated after Suresh Kumar revealed Empuraan's budget during a press conference about the film strike, which reportedly angered Antony. Antony Perumbavoor questioned whether Suresh Kumar was being influenced by external forces and who had given him the authority to comment on the strike and the film’s budget.
