Radhakrishnan Chakyat, one of India’s most respected fashion photographers and a known face in Malayalam cinema breathed his last on May 23, Friday.
As reported by Manorama Online, he was aged 53 and passed away due to a heart attack.
A Master behind the camera
Radhakrishnan began his independent photography journey in 2000 and quickly rose to prominence with his unique blend of artistic vision and technical mastery. He shot campaigns for some of the country’s leading brands and was a much sought-after fashion photographer.. He also conducted numerous workshops and lectures, mentoring aspiring photographers across India.
A Teacher to Thousands
In 2017, he founded Pixel Viilage, a popular YouTube platform that became a go-to destination for photography education. Through this initiative, Chakyat shared tutorials, product reviews, and in-depth discussions about cameras, lighting, and photographic techniques. He was known for breaking down complex ideas with clarity and passion, making him a mentor to thousands in the photography community.
Following his demise, his team at Pixel Viilage released a heartfelt statement that read, "It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our beloved mentor, friend, and inspiration, Radhakrishnan Chakyat. A guiding light in our photography journey, he not only taught us how to see the world through the lens but also how to capture its soul. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched with his presence. Radh Sir, rest in peace. You will be deeply missed."
Onscreen presence: debut in ‘Charlie’
Apart from his contributions to photography, Radhakrishnan also made his mark in cinema with his acting debut in the 2015 film Charlie, starring Dulquer Salmaan. He portrayed the character David, earning admiration for his natural screen presence.
