On the occasion of the award, the film's director Ranjith Sankar revealed something on his social media page, that proves Jayasurya's dedication to the character. "He is still taking medicines for the skin allergy he contracted during the shoot of the film. This man, who knew no football, had spent three months to also understand football in depth. Jayasurya was awarded the Best Actor title, alongside Soubin Shahir, for his performance in two films, 'Captain' and 'Njan Marykutty.'
