After his award-winning film, Celluloid, Kamal is all set to take yet another walk down the memory lane in his next film.
Titled Nadan, the movie will shed light on the life of theatre artistes. It was earlier announced that actor Jayaram will play the protagonist’s role in the film. Now, we hear that Remya Nambeesan will pair up with Jayaram. “I’m excited to work with Kamal Sir and I'm looking forward to start the shoot.

But I am yet to listen to the full script,” says Remya, who is currently shooting for Philips and the Monkey Pen.
Kamal tells us that Remya will play the role of an actress, who comes to join the protagonist’s drama troupe. “Later, they fall in love but certain incidents lead to their break up. It’s also a story of their relationship,” says Kamal.
However, he is quick to add that the main focus of the movie will be on the theatre scene in the 80s. “During the 80s, theatre played a major role in social reforms. Plays like Adukkalayil Ninnu Arangathekku and Ningalenne Communist-akki, brought about nothing short of a revolution in society. But today, the scene is changing, and theatre artistes are looked down upon by the society. Now there are very few artistes who seriously pursue theatre as a profession. My film is a take on the current scenario of theatre,” says Kamal.
Jayaram will play a troupe owner, who hails from a family of theatre artistes, in the film. The film revolves around on how his life takes a drastic turn over the years. “The story happens in the present scenario, when the protagonist is old,” says the director. The story and script are written by Suresh Babu. Joy Mathew, Sajitha and T Balachandran also play prominent roles. The director is also planning to cast theatre artistes in the film. Nadan will start rolling in August.
