Faasil, director Dileesh Pothan and scriptwriter Syam Pushkaran, began shooting their upcoming film

Joji

earlier this week. The movie, which is an adaptation of Shakespeare's

Macbeth

, marks Fahadh's third project after the pandemic lockdown was announced.

Apart from Fahadh who plays the titular character Joji that draws parallels with Macbeth, the movie also has Shammi Thilakan and Baburaj in pivotal roles. Actress

, who played an important role in Kunchacko Boban's investigative thriller Anjaam Pathira earlier this year, also has a substantial role in the contemporary drama.

The trio was earlier set to team up for a crime drama titled Thankam, which is currently shelved due to the pandemic. The movie was supposed to have Aparna Balamurali and Joju George also as part of its cast. “We can’t shoot that movie when pandemic restrictions are in place. We will be shooting that later," said Syam, in an earlier interview with us. "Right now, the plan is to shoot Joji, which is an independent adaptation of Macbeth, in Mundakkayam and Erumeli,” said Syam.

The film has Shyju Khalid cranking the camera and Thaneemathan Dinangal and Njandukalude Naattil Oridavela composer Justin Varghese handling the music department.

Meanwhile, Fahadh had earlier finished shooting for the thriller Irul, which also has Soubin Shahir and Darshana Rajendran, and is directed by debutant Naseef Yusuf Izuddin. The actor is also awaiting the release of Mahesh Narayanan's Malik, which was supposed to hit theatres in April 2020.
