Spread smiles to those affected on Onam day: Shamna Kasim

Every year, I make sure to be present in Kerala during Onam. However, this time though I could actively take part in the relief operations, I would not be here, as I am shooting in Chennai. But I wish to tell my friends and family to not keep away from celebrations completely, as Onam and Kerala are intertwined. As long as one exists, the true essence of the other will prevail too. What we can do is to make sure to be there for those affected by the floods in some way or the other, and boost their spirits. I would say, if you are getting an Onakkodi or flowers, get an extra set or bunch, so that you can bring a smile on someone in the camp next to your area. As I am not at home today, I have asked my mother to do what she can do best. We are planning to convert the Onam programmes I have committed to, to fundraising events.
