Renowned Malayalam actor and artist Sreenivasan, celebrated for his substantial contributions to the film industry, recently shared an intriguing revelation about one of his iconic portrayals. The character of Saroj Kumar in the film 'Udayananu Tharam' was, according to Sreenivasan, loosely inspired by none other than the legendary Mammootty.
In an interview with the online portal Cinematheque, Sreenivasan fondly recollected an incident involving Mammootty during the release of 'Mazhayethum Munpe' and Mohanlal's 'Spadikam.' As both films were enjoying considerable success at the box office, Sreenivasan, Mammootty, and Cochin Haneefa found themselves on a journey together.
Amidst their travels, Mammootty noticed movie posters by the roadside. Observing that Mohanlal's face dominated the 'Spadikam' poster while 'Mazhayethum Munpe' showcased multiple actors alongside him, Mammootty jokingly suggested calling the producer to demand exclusive prominence. To this, Sreenivasan responded humorously, "I'll call him, but I'll ask for my pictures instead of yours."
This light-hearted banter between the actors served as the inspiration for a memorable scene in 'Udayananu Tharam,' where Saroj Kumar proudly declares, 'My head, my full figure,' a playful nod to Mammootty's earlier remark.
Meanwhile, earlier Sreenivasan had called Mohanlal a hypocrite, to which his own son Dhyan Sreenivasan further revealed that his father had crossed the line by making such a remark about the actor.
