Surabhi Lakshmi plays a real-life inspired character in ‘Jwaalamukhi’
National Award winner Surabhi Lakshmi was last seen in the film ‘Vikruthi’ with Suraj Venjaramoodu on the big screen.
In her next project titled ‘Jwaalamukhi’ directed by Harikumar, she will play a real-life inspired character from Kochi. The shoot of the movie was packed up a while ago and the film also has actors like Indrans, Janardhanan and Vineetha Koshy in important roles.
Director Harikumar says, “Surabhi’s character’s name is Angel, and she is a woman from Kochi. The person, from whose life Angel’s story is inspired, still lives in Kochi. That said, this film is not a biopic, though 80 per cent of the story is based on the real-life instances. Aspects like the profession that the woman is into, her struggles and the like are taken as it is. Surabhi will also be appearing in a very different look in ‘Jwaalamukhi.’” He also hints that the movie is a story based out of a handful of contemporary issues.
The director also adds that Indrans plays the character of a person who works in a village office. “Each of the characters, played by Janardhanan, Vineetha and more, have their own stories too in the film. The whole shoot of the movie was completed a few months ago in Thodupuzha.” The makers have primarily targeted the festival circuits to showcase the movie, which the director says, is very different from the films that Surabhi has done so far.
In the film ‘Vikruthi’ too, Surabhi had played a real-life inspired character, who was the deaf and mute wife of a man who was mistaken for a drunkard on Kochi Metro.
