Suresh Gopi assesses landslide-hit Wayanad; expresses solidarity with affected families

Actor and Union Minister Suresh Gopi visited the landslide-affected areas of Mundakkai and Chooralmala in Wayanad on Sunday (August 4).


In an emotional post on his Twitter handle, Suresh Gopi expressed his sorrow, stating, "My heart is heavy amidst the ruins in Wayanad. Landslides have claimed many lives, including innocent children, and left others missing. My deepest condolences to the grieving families. Wayanad's resilience is inspiring. Thank you to all the rescuers and volunteers. We stand with you.” The actor also shared pictures of his visit, capturing the devastation and the ongoing relief efforts.

Suresh Gopi conducted an on-site assessment along with briefings from officials involved in the ongoing search and rescue operations. After Suresh Gopi visits the affected areas, he is also expected to tour relief camps in Wayanad and WIMS Hospital, where survivors are currently undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, actor Mohanlal visited Wayanad on Saturday, donning his honorary army uniform. He pledged Rs 3 crore through his Viswasanthi Foundation for the rehabilitation and relief efforts in the disaster-hit region. Upon reaching the army camp at Meppadi, Mohanlal held a brief discussion with the officers before proceeding to the landslide-affected zone.

Mohanlal also shared a Tweet that read, “The devastation in Wayanad is a deep wound that will take time to heal. Every home lost and life disrupted is a personal tragedy. ViswaSanthi Foundation is pledging 3 crore for immediate relief and rebuilding efforts with the support of Dorf-Ketal Chemicals India Pvt. Ltd. One of our commitments is the reconstruction of the LP school at Mundakkai. Witnessing the courageous efforts of the soldiers from my 122TA Madras battalion and the rescue teams was profoundly moving. Their selfless dedication and the resilience of the community inspire hope. Together, we will rebuild, heal, and emerge stronger.”
