Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval's directorial ‘Sureshanteyum Sumalathayudeyum Hrudayahariyaya Pranayakadha’ featuring Rajesh Nair and Chithra Nair in the lead roles, hit the big screens on Thursday, May 16. The film, which is a spin-off of the characters Sureshan and Sumalatha from the 2022 blockbuster 'Nnaa Thaan Case Kodu' had a poor opening at the boz office, despite the hype.

The film has earned Rs 1 lakh at the box office according to a report by Sacnilk. The film had a less-than-impressive opening at the box office. The release of ‘Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil’ featuring an ensemble cast of Prithviraj Sukumaran, Basil Joseph, Nikhila Vimal, and Anaswara Rajan, on the same day, May 16, has also affected the opening day earnings of Ratheesh’s film. However, with the weekend approaching, ‘Sureshanteyum Sumalathayudeyum Hrudayahariyaya Pranayakadha’ is expected to earn more numbers at the box office.

ETimes rated the film 3.5 out of 5 and wrote, “In an era where Malayalam cinema garners global acclaim for its narrative depth, Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval ventures into uncharted territory with a heartfelt narrative that defies conventional norms. Unlike many contemporary films, this offering transcends superficiality, reminiscent of the impact 'Andaz Apna Apna' had with its subtle comedy and thought-provoking dialogue in 1994. While the ensemble of new actors delivers strong performances, Kunchako Boban's appearance as Kozhummal Rajeevan feels somewhat out of place, failing to resonate with the film's overall tone and theme.
