In the poster, the characters of Suraj and Nimisha can be seen in a moment of affection in the kitchen, as she cooks. This is the second film together for the actors, who first teamed up for the critically acclaimed ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ a few years ago. The duo will play a married couple and the film’s shoot was in its last stages in Kozhikode, when we spoke last to the director.

Jeo Baby, whose last film was the Tovino Thomas starrer ‘Kilometers and Kilometers,’ had said that ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’ is a family drama, and it is also scripted by him. The director said, “We started the film’s shoot on July 11. Suraj’s character is a school teacher in the film, while Nimisha plays his wife who is a 23-year-old homemaker. Sidhartha Siva is also part of the cast. In this film, the characters won’t have names.” The film also has many drama artistes from Kozhikode as part of its cast.

Interestingly, the whole story of the movie happens within a house, except for one scene. Jeo had also added that however, it’s not a film that was fashioned for work because of the Covid – 19 restrictions. “It’s a story we had in mind even before. However, as it fits into the present scenario, we decided to work on it. We took permission and shot the one scene that was outdoors.” The movie’s music is by Sooraj S Kurup and the songs are written by Dhanya Suresh and Mridula Devi. Newbies Salu K Thomas is the cinematographer, Fancis Louis the editor and Jithin Babu is on art.

Suraj, who recently won the State Award for his performances in ‘Android Kunjappan Version 5.25’ and ‘Vikruthi’ also has the films ‘Roy,’ ‘Jana Gana Mana,’ ‘Udaya’ and ‘Anugraheethan Antony’ coming up.
