In the most recent incident, Vinayakan was reportedly involved in a disturbance at the Ernakulam Town North police station on Tuesday, October 24. He had been summoned by the police regarding a dispute with his wife at his apartment. During this visit to the police station, Vinayakan's behavior led to his arrest, as confirmed by a senior police officer. Subsequently, he was taken to a nearby hospital for a required medical examination. Following the proper legal procedures, the police eventually released him on bail.

On July 20, 2023, Malayalam actor Vinayakan found himself in legal trouble as the Ernakulam Town North police filed a case against him due to a video he posted on social media. The video, posted during the funeral procession of the former Kerala Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, was perceived as derogatory by some. In the video, Vinayakan questioned the extensive media coverage surrounding someone who had passed away and posed the question, "Who is Oommen Chandy?" However, the actor later clarified that his remarks were aimed at the media for sensationalizing the former CM's demise and were not intended as a personal attack on Oommen Chandy.

While speaking at a promotional event for his film 'Oruthee,' featuring actress Navya Nair in the lead role, Vinayakan made a statement about the #MeToo movement. He expressed his lack of understanding about the movement and wrongly interpreted it as merely asking for a woman's consent for sexual activity. He further stated that he would continue his previous behavior. The actor also said that he had physical relationships with over 10 women. During the event, Vinayakan also made an inappropriate comment directed at a female journalist, which led to considerable outrage among his fans and the public. Recognizing the severity of his statements and the backlash they generated, the actor later issued an apology via his official Facebook page.

Malayalam actor Vinayakan has always been a man of controversy. It all started in the year 2019, when Dalit activist and poet Mruduladevi accused Vinayakan of verbally abusing her. Mruduladevi alleged that Vinayakan asked her to sleep with him while she was invited to attend a program. During an interaction with Kochi Times, Vinayakan said, “, “I have nothing to say. Let her complete what she is doing. I do not even know what happened; I never keep records of those who call me. I do not think this is in any way connected to me. If she has proof and if it is proven that I am the one who has done it, I will be punished, arrested, and put in jail. That’s it”
