‘Vasantha Panchami’ song from ‘Neelavelicham’ strikes a chord with the music lovers

Aashiq Abu’s ‘Neelavelicham’ starring Tovino Thomas, Rima Kallingal, Roshan Mathew and Shine Tom Chacko in the lead roles, hit the big screens on April 20, and the film is running successfully in the cinemas. To pique the interest of more movie buffs, the makers have launched yet another song from the film. The makers launched ‘Vasantha Panchami’ video song, which is sure to melt your heart.

‘Vasantha Panchami’ shows Sasi Kumar (played by Roshan Mathew), bidding goodbye to his lady love Bhargavi (essayed by Rima Kallingal), and promising her that he will return on a Pournami (full moon) day as that. The song features the longing of Bhargavi to reunite with her soulmate. The beautiful song was originally penned by P Bhaskaran, and composed by MS Baburaj, and S Janaki crooned the soulful number. The rendition is now sung by KS Chithra.

Directed by Aashiq Abu, the film is based on Vaikom Muhammad Basheer’s short story ‘Neelavelicham’. The story was earlier adapted on the silver screen by A Vincent. Titled ‘Bhargavi Nilayam’, the 1964 film featured Madhu, Prem Nazir, and Vijaya Nirmala in the lead roles. ‘Bhargavi Nilayam’ also happens to be the first horror thriller from Malayalam cinema.

On the technical front, Girish Gangadharan is the cinematographer for ‘Neelavelicham’, and V Saajan is the editor. The additional screenplay for the film is done by Hrishikesh Bhaskaran. Bijibal and Rex Vijayan are in charge of the music. The original music was done by MS Baburaj, and the lyrics were penned by P Bhaskaran.
