Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar has once again proven his strong foothold in Kerala with his upcoming action thriller Vidaamuyarchi setting impressive pre-sales records.
According to an update from the Twitter handle Friday Matinee, the film has grossed Rs 59.50 lakh in Kerala from 1,025 shows and 35,413 admissions, making it the highest pre-sales collection of the year in the state for any Tamil film.
On the down side, ‘Vidaamuyarchi’ is getting mixed reports from Kerala. One Kerala Twitter user wrote, “#VidaaMuyarchi - A lazy remake that is devoid of any high moments. Movie is fully shouldered by a terrific Ajith. Ok work by Anirudh. First Half was interesting but fizzled out in the second. Passable Flick.” Another Twitter user wrote, “#VidaaMuyarchi Interval Sequence is One of the Best One In Recent Times from Kollywood #AjithKumar & #TrishaKrishnan Unpredictable Twist Theatre Experience Was wow.”
Meanwhile, as per industry tracker Sacnilk, Vidaamuyarchi has already collected Rs 7.8 crore in overall pre-sales, including block seats. The majority of the earnings have come from Tamil Nadu, contributing Rs 4.27 crore, followed by Karnataka with Rs 20.13 lakh and Kerala with Rs 5.68 lakh. These numbers signal a bumper opening for the much-anticipated thriller.
The film has already secured Rs 21 crore in advance sales for the long weekend, with over 8,500 shows scheduled across 375 cinemas in Tamil Nadu alone.
The movie, featuring Ajith Kumar, Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Sarja, Regina Cassandra, Aarav, and Nikhil Nair, is reportedly an official adaptation of the Hollywood film Breakdown. Initially slated for a Pongal 2025 release, the makers preponed the release to February 6, 2025.
With strong pre-sales figures and immense anticipation, Vidaamuyarchi is all set to make a grand entry at the box office.
