Video: Lena remembers Rajesh Pillai, as ‘Traffic’ clocks 11

Rajesh Pillai’s Malayalam directorial ‘Traffic’ has clocked 11 years of its release on Friday (Jan 07). The road thriller was a milestone in the history of Malayalam cinema as well, in terms of its content and execution. The Malayalam film had an ensemble cast of Sreenivasan, Kunchacko Boban, Rahman, Anoop Menon, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Lena, Sandhya, Roma, Remya Nambeesan, Asif Ali, and Namitha Pramod. Actress Lena who played the role of Shruthi in the film has penned a heartwarming note remembering the director of the film, Rajesh Pillai, who passed away in 2016. “11 years of Traffic. The Malayalam movie was a turning point in the career of several actors including Kunchacko Boban, Lena, and, Namitha Pramod among others. The success of ‘Traffic’ prompted the makers to remake the film into Tamil and Hindi. The film was remade in Tamil in 2013 as ‘Chennaiyil Oru Naal’ and in Hindi in 2016. Rajesh Pillai himself directed the film in Bollywood. The Hindi ‘Traffic’ featured Manoj Bajpayee, Jimmy Sheirgill, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Parambrata Chatterjee, Divya Dutta, Amol Parashar, and Richa Panai.On the other hand, Lena has some exciting projects lined up in 2022. Some of her most anticipated films include ‘Footprints On Water’, ‘Article 21’, ‘Love Jihad’, and ‘Bheeshma Parvam’.
