Vidya approached to play writer Madhavikutty

Award-winning director Kamal is all set to bring alive controversial Malayali writer Kamala Das aka Madhavikutty’s life on the silver screen. And we hear that Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has been approached to play the role of the fiery poetess, who was quite open and honest in her treatment of female sexuality in her works.
Director Kamal, who will also be scripting the film, confirms the news and says, “By mid next year, I am planning to commence work on the film.I want Vidya to play the writer’s role. I think her charisma and attitude will match Madhavikutty’s persona.”
However, the director is quick to add that, “I am yet to discuss the matter in detail with Vidya. I am currently busy with Mammootty-starrer. I will start working on the biopic only after completing it.” The movie will reportedly feature the professional and personal life of the poetess.
Vidya’s debut Malayalam film with Mohanlal, which was helmed by Lohithadas, was shelved halfway. Later, the actress played a small yet significant role in Santhosh Sivan’s period film, Urumi, opposite Prithviraj and Prabhudheva.
