After decades of running around trees and playing eye-candy roles in films, Mollywood actresses are now keen to explore their potential by taking up woman-centric movies with strong female characters. After
Kavya Madhavan, who recently signed up for
Jeethu Joseph's woman-centric film,
Bhavana too is following suit.
She will be joining actor-turned- director
Vijay Menon's yet-to-be-titled movie soon. 'Yes, Bhavana is going to be the lead character in my next directorial. The film will go on floors on May 8 at Trivandrum. The script is based on a story by my son Nikhil Menon, and it has a woman as the protagonist. I cannot reveal more about it at this point,' says Vijay Menon adding that he is yet to finalise the rest of the cast. Vijay Menon debuted in Mollywood through Bharathan's Nidra (1981) and went on to act in more than 100 films. A graduate in filmmaking from a renowned film institute in Pune, he has directed a movie titled Nilaavinte Naattil which starred Prem Nazir, Seema and Bharath Gopi. Later he turned his focus to acting.
'When my son narrated a story to me recently, I found it really interesting. I decided to do a movie on it. We have other important characters too in the film that revolves around the main character enacted by Bhavana,' he adds.
Bhavana's latest release was Jayan K Nair's Hello Namasthe and she has also signed up for V K Prakash's next, Munthirithopile Adithikal.
