'Vilayath Buddha' continues its theatrical journey with mediocre box office collections. On a good note, after facing a consistent decline through the weekdays, the film has finally shown a small yet welcome rise on Day 10.
According to the Sacnilk website, the
Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer collected Rs 14 lakhs on Sunday. This is an improvement from Rs 10 lakhs on Day 9. This signals a slow recovery during the second weekend.
Marginal recovery lifts expectations for the coming week
As per the current box office tally, 'Vilayath Buddha' holds an India net total of Rs 4.95 crore, while the worldwide gross collection stands at Rs 8.38 crore. The film has earned Rs 5.78 crore in India gross and Rs 2.6 crore from overseas markets.
A challenging run
Reportedly the day 7 saw Rs 20 lakhs, after which the weekday phase tightened the drop pattern. Day 8 slipped to Rs 11 lakhs which was followed by Rs 10 lakhs on Day 9. The Day 10 figure of Rs 14 lakhs marks the first noticeable upward movement in nearly a week.
Praises for Shammi Thilakan's performance
Directed by
Jayan Nambiar, 'Vilayath Buddha' is receiving mixed reviews from the audiences. Based on GR Indugopan's popular novel by the same name, the movie features Prithviraj Sukumaran, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Anu Mohan, and Shammi Thilakan in pivotal roles. This week run will test the box office capability of this intense thriller drama movie.
