After a lot of uncertainty, the entertainment industry in Kerala is slowly making progress. The government has finally given a nod to resume film shoots in the state and it has come as a relief to the industry and filmmakers have kickstarted shoots. From shoots resuming in Kerala to Rajisha Vijayan announcing her Telugu debut, Vinayan opening up about his next with Mohanlal, and much more, here’s a quick recap of what made headlines in M-Town this week, in case you missed any.

After showing her prowess in acting, both in Malayalam and Tamil movies, actress Rajisha Vijayan is all set to mark her debut in Telugu. She will be debuting in Telugu cinema with the upcoming film ‘Rama Rao On Duty’, which has Ravi Teja in the lead role. “Extremely elated to announce my Telugu debut with @raviteja_2628 garu,” Rajisha Vijayan announced.

Filmmaker Vinayan recently divulged details of his upcoming film starring Mohanlal. In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Vinayan revealed that he will be working on the Mohanlal starrer, once the latter completes his work on ‘Barroz’. “I am planning for a mass entertainer with Mohanlal. Rather than making a small movie for the sake of it, I want to make a huge film with Lal (Mohanlal). The story is yet to be finalized,” Vinayan shared in the chat with us.

Veteran filmmaker G Aravindan’s classic film ‘Kummatty (The Bogeyman)’ will be restored by Martin Scorsese’s program - The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project in association with Film Heritage Foundation and Cineteca di Bologna. The team recently made the announcement and the restoration process is being carried out at the L’Immagine Ritrovata laboratory in Bologna, Italy. After the restoration, the film will be premiered at the Il Cinema Ritrovato festival.

On Saturday (July 17), the Kerala government had announced that film shoots can be carried out in the state. The announcement has come as a big relief to Malayalam cinema as the industry had reached a standstill after two and a half months of shoot ban, due to the coronavirus pandemic. Kannan Thamarakkulam’s multi-starrer film ‘Virunnu’ starring Arjun Sarja and Nikki Galrani was the first to go on floors. The team resumed the shoot at Peerumedu on Sunday (July 18). A crew of 40 people and the actors are filming in a private estate in Peerumedu and the area comes under B category. The team is filming with all the necessary precautions.

The much-awaited trailer of Suresh Gopi starrer ‘Kaaval’ was launched on July 16. The trailer promised a vintage Suresh Gopi and the makers were able to keep up with the hype. Suresh Gopi plays the role of Thamban, and the trailer suggests that he has retired from his violent past. From firebrand dialogues to energetic action sequences, the upcoming movie seems to be presenting a ‘Suresh Gopi starrer’ after all! Meanwhile, ‘Kaaval’ is helmed by Nithin Renji Panicker and the makers have confirmed that the film will be released only on the big screens.
