When Ram Gopal Varma apologized for calling Mammootty a ‘Junior artist’ compared to Dulquer Salmaan

Years back, Bollywood director Ram Gopal Varma received criticisms for comparing Mammootty and his son Dulquer Salmaan’s acting as the ‘Satya’ director mentioned the former as a ‘Junior artist’ when compared to the latter.


During the release of the Dulquer Salmaan starrer Tamil film ‘O Kadhal Kanmani’ in the year 2015, Ram Gopal Varma showered praises on Dulquer Salmaan’s stunning performance in the movie. What irked the movie buffs were the words that RGV said about Mammootty.

Ram Gopal Varma’s Tweet read, “Just saw Mani's film, and if the award committee members have any sense they will take back all awards of Mammootty and give it to his son.” He also posted another Tweet that read, “Mammootty is a junior artiste compared to his son.” RGV also posted a third Tweet that read, “Mammootty should learn acting from his son.I mean realistic. Mammoottys son will make Kerala proud In the non-Kerala markets in just years which Mammootty couldn't do for decades.”


Dulquer Salmaan himself came forward by sharing a reply Tweet to RGV. The ‘King of Kotha’ actor’s Tweet read, “In ten lifetimes I won't be one millionth the actor my father is, no matter what I accomplish.”

Soon Ram Gopal Varma apologized for his controversial Tweets. He replied to Dulquer by saying, “@dulQuer Hey I am known to speak out what I feel in a certain way of expressing my happiness and this is not the first time I did this. @dulQuer I request u to Pls explain this to ur dad and if he too is offended I apologize to him too.”
