Women in blue create history: Yash, Mammootty, Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran and other south celebs celebrate India’s historic win

The Women in Blue scripted a golden chapter by winning their maiden ICC Women’s World Cup title, defeating South Africa by 52 runs.



The victory sparked celebrations across the nation, with prominent stars from the Malayalam film industry including the 'Toxic' actor Yash,Mammootty, Mohanlal, and Prithviraj Sukumaran.

Yash took to Instagram story and wrote,"“HISTORY MADE! The Women in Blue are world champions — a monumental win that proves hard work and spirit can conquer anything. You’ve taught us to believe till the very end.”

Mammootty, Kamal Haasan applauds the spirit of champions

Superstar Mammootty who is currently filming for the actioner 'Patriot', took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his pride in the team’s victory. He wrote, “Congratulations to our incredible Women’s #TeamIndia! You’ve made history and filled an entire nation with pride. This triumph is more than a win, it’s a story of spirit, resilience, and belief. Proud of you, Champions .” Kamal Haasan Tweeted, "The 1983 moment of Indian Women’s Cricket has arrived! Your names will live in folklore. Their legacy will ignite a million dreams. Congratulations, Team India! #CWC2025 @BCCIWomen."

Mohanlal and Prithviraj join in the celebration

The 'Thudarum' actor Mohanlal praised the team’s grit and unity, writing, “History has been made and it’s painted in blue! Our Women’s Team India has shown the world what determination and unity can achieve. You’ve inspired millions and made an entire nation beam with pride. .”

Actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran also hailed the champions, sharing, “Congratulations Champions on winning the maiden Women’s Cricket World Cup! History made in style! .”

A victory that inspires generations

India, put into bat first, posted a formidable 298 for 7. Shafali Verma top-scored with 87 off 78 balls, and 58 from Deepti Sharma.

In balling side too Shafali delivered as she claimed two crucial wickets that sealed India’s win. November 2, 2025, will forever be etched in the history of Indian cricket.
