Women’s Day 2022: Upcoming movies helmed by Mollywood female filmmakers

Forget terming a filmmaker as Male or Female, that ship has sailed a long time ago. Also, no film has made a spot in the hearts of the audience just because of the fact that the film is directed by a female or male or due to the fact that the main character of a film is essayed by a woman or even a man. The thing that matters is the content of the film, irrespective of the gender of the person who is delivering the content. Several Mollywood female filmmakers such as Anjali Menon, Geethu Mohandas got a wide acceptance from the audience due to the extraordinary content they have delivered through their films. Today, as the whole world is celebrating Women’s day, let's take a look at some of the highly anticipated upcoming movies helmed by Mollywood female filmmakers.

The year 2022 will witness the birth of another talented female filmmaker Ratheena PT through the upcoming Mammootty starrer ‘Puzhu’. Taking hints from the teaser of the film, Mammootty will be helming a negative shaded character. The movie is touted as a crime thriller. Apart from Mammootty, ‘Puzhu’ also features the actors Parvathy Thiruvothu, Nedumudi Venu, and Malavika Menon in pivotal roles.

After directing the films ‘Mitr: My Friend’, ‘Phir Milenge’ the segment ‘Makal’ in ‘Kerala Cafe’, the actor-director Revathi will be donning the director’s cap after a long gap for the Bollywood film ‘Salaam Venky’. The shooting of the film commenced recently and the Bollywood actress Kajol plays a major role in the film. Actors Aahana Kumra, Vishal Jethwa, and Anant Mahadevan will be also seen in pivotal roles in the film ‘Salaam Venky’

The renowned director Anjali Menon is getting back to the director’s chair after the film ‘Bangalore Days’ and ‘Koode’ for the film titled ‘Rasa’. As per the reports, the film will revolve around the story of a Nepali maid named Manju who falls in love with Bharatnatyam. Although further updates on the film are not officially made by the makers, the audience is really waiting for Anjali Menon to unveil her magic through her next film.

The award-winning director Vidhu Vincent will be seen directing her upcoming venture titled ‘Viral Sebi’. Although the release date of the film is not announced by the makers, previously the team released an intriguing trailer for the film featuring the actors Sudeep Koshy, Meera Hamed, Joy Mathew, Namitha Pramod, Anumol, Irshad Ali, and Sidhartha Siva. Vidhu Vincent has previously helmed the films ‘Manhole’ and ‘Stand Up’.
