Malayalam star kids who made a mark in the industry

In any film industry, there's always a flow of new actors. There are actors who come without any film background and then there are others who come from film families. M-town, too, like any other industry, has seen its fair share of star kids making a mark. Let’s take a look at some of the star kids who have made their mark and some who have just started their career and are gaining a foothold in the industry...

Indrajith Sukumaran

Indrajith, eldest son of late actor Sukumaran and Mallika Sukumaran, made his Malayalam debut in the year 2002 with the film Oomappenninu Uriyadappayyan. He later on went on to act in several films and made a mark in the Malayalam film industry. He has acted in more than 50 films. His notable roles are in films like Meesa Madhavan, Classmates, Baba Kalyani, Chotta Mumbai and Arabikkatha. He has proved himself in negative as well as comic roles.

Prithviraj Sukumaran

Prithviraj is the youngest son of late actor Sukumaran and Mallika Sukumaran and younger brother of actor Indrajith Sukumaran. He made his film debut at the age of 19 in the superhit film Nandanam, directed by Ranjith, in the year 2002. He is the youngest recipient of Kerala State Award for Best Actor for the film Vasthavam in the year 2006. He made his Bollywood debut with the film Aiyyaa, in the year 2012, alongside Rani Mukherjee. He established himself as a superstar in Malayalam cinema.

Dulquer Salmaan

Dulquer is the son of superstar of Malayalam cinema Mammootty. He made his debut in the year 2012 with the film Second Show directed by Srinath Rajendran. In the same year, he starred in Usthad Hotel directed by Anwar Rasheed. This film received the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment in 2012. Dulquer Salmaan has been voted as the Kochi Times Most Desirable Men 2014 based on online polls conducted by the Times Group. He was ranked 7th in Chennai Times Most Desirable Men 2014 and ranked 45th in Times Most Desirable Men 2014 in India. He is the only Malayalam actor to receive these acclamation. Dulquer Salmaan has currently become one of the most popular actors in Malayalam cinema.

Vineeth Srinivasan

This multi-talented actor is the son of actor and screenwriter Sreenivasan. Vineeth Srinivasan has donned many hats in his career. He is a successful playback singer, very talented actor and critically acclaimed director. He made his acting debut with Cycle directed by Johny Antony in the year 2008. He made his directorial debut with the film Malarvadi Arts Club. Vineeth is also part of a band Malayalee and has produced lots of music videos. His music album Coffee @ MG Road became an instant hit.

Sidharth Bharathan

Siddharth Bharathan is the son of late director Bharathan and actress K P A C Lalitha. He is an actor as well as a director. He made his debut in the year 2002 with Kamal directed film Nammal. He made his directorial debut with the remake of his dad Bharathan's 1981 hit Nidra. He even acted as the lead alongside Rima Kallingal.

Pranav Mohanlal

Another superstar's son entered the Malayalam film industry but his role is behind the camera. Superstar Mohanlal's son Pranav Mohanlal has acted in several films as a child artist. He won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Artist for the film Punarjani. He even made a cameo in his dad Mohanlal's film Sagar Alias Jackie Reloaded directed by Amal Neerad in the year 2009. Pranav made a comeback in the film industry as an assistant director to Jeethu Joseph in Drishyam's Tamil remake Papanasam starring Kamal Hassan.

Gokul Suresh Gopi

Eldest son of National Award winning actor Suresh Gopi, Gokul is all set to make his acting debut in Mudhugauv directed by Vipin Das. The film will go on floors this September or October.

Ann Augustine

Ann Augustine is the daughter of late actor Augustine. She made her acting debut in the 2009 film Elsamma Enna Aankutty directed by Lal Jose. Ann was thoroughly applauded for her performance and went on to win several debut awards for the same. She won Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the film Artist directed by Shyamaprasad in the year 2013. She even won 61st Filmfare Awards South Best Actress for the same film in the same year.

Fahadh Fazil

Director Fazil's son Fahadh is a critically acclaimed and one of the most sought after actors in Malayalam cinema. After his debacle debut Kaiyethum Doorath directed by his father Fazil in the year 2002, he took five years gap and went to USA for further studies. In the year 2009, he went on to act in Kerala Cafe directed by Ranjith. Then he acted in several notable roles such as Chaappa Kurishu (2011), Diamond Necklace, 22 Female Kottayam (2012), Amen, Artist, Annayum Rasoolum, North 24 Kaatham (2013), Bangalore Days, and Iyobinte Pusthakam (2014). He won Filmfare Awards South twice; first in the year 2012 for the film 22 Female Kottayam and next in the year 2013 for the film North 24 Kaatham. He won Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Actor for the film Akam and Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for North 24 Kaatham and Artist.

Murali Gopi

Murali Gopi is the son of late Bharat Gopy. He made his acting debut in 2002 Lal Jose directed film Rasikan. He even wrote the screenplay for the film. He won the 61st Filmfare Awards South for The Best Actor in a Supporting Role for the film Left Right Left. He is even a playback singer and has sang songs for films like Rasikan, Left Right Left, 1 by Two and Premam.

Keerthi Suresh

Keerthi Suresh is the daughter of famous Malayalam actress Menaka and producer Suresh Kumar. In early 2000s, she acted as a child artist in several films. She made her debut in a leading role with the film Geethanjali directed by ace director Priyadarshan. This movie is reportedly a spin-off of the 1993 blockbuster film Manichitratazhu. She was appreciated for her double role in the film. She went on to act as a blind girl in the 2014 hit Ringmaster opposite Dileep. She is now trying her stint at Tamil and Telugu films and has signed lots of films there.

Krish Sathaar

Krish Sathaar is the son of actors Sathaar and Jayabharathi. He made his acting debut with the Siddique directed film Ladies and Gentleman released in the year 2013. He has acted in one Tamil film Malini 22 Palayamkottai that released in the year 2014.

Kalidas

Kalidas is the son of Malayalam actors Jayaram and Parvathy. He made his debut at the age of 7 with Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal directed by Sathyan Anthikkad in the year 2000, alongside his dad Jayaram. Later he acted in Sibi Malayil directed Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum in 2003 for which he received the National Award for Best Child Artist. Now he is all set to make his debut in Tamil film Oru Pakka Kathai directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan. He acted in Cadbury Diary Milk Silk Bubble's TV commercial which became an instant hit among the youths.
