Parvathy applauds singer Pushpavathy’s recital of ‘Aathmopadesha Satakam’ poem
It’s been a few days since
Many have been applauding her rendition, and most recently, it’s National Award winner
The poem, which is considered a classic work of the guru, contains 100 verses and it is believed to be published in its present form in the year 1897. It is Nataraja Guru, one of the principal disciples of the guru, who translated it in English, titling it ‘Centriloquy of the self, and it is believed that the text was originally written in Sanskrit and Tamil.
Pushpavathy, who became a household name through the song ‘Chembaavul Punnellin Choro’ which is from the Aashiq Abu movie ‘Salt n Pepper,’ also has many other hits to her credit like ‘Maanathe Chandana Keeru’ for the Dulquer Salmaan – Unni Mukundan movie ‘Vikramaadithyan’ and ‘Nrithageethikalennum’ for the film ‘Kayamkulam Kochunni.’ She also gives ghazal and classical performances often, through her social media platforms.

Thiruvothu who complimented the singer. Pushpavathy herself wrote about it on her page, saying, “That unexpected phone call from Parvathy Thiruvothu surprised me. I felt like I won an award, when she said she felt a lot of peace listening to the six verses from Aathmopadesha Satakam, in my voice. Now she has also tagged me on it and shared the same.
