Akshay Waghmare and his wife

Gawli, who had a lockdown wedding in May last year, will be celebrating their first
Gudi Padwa after marriage this time. Needless to say, the two have many special plans in store to make the day a memorable one, despite being in different cities.
While Akshay is in his hometown Pune, Yogita – who is in the final trimester of her pregnancy – is currently in Mumbai. But the to-be-parents will be reuniting on Gudi Padwa. “After completing some portions for my Marathi film Khurchi in
Saswad
, I came to Pune for a few days because of the COVID-19 restrictions,” says Akshay, who is eagerly looking forward to meeting Yogita in Mumbai. He adds, “I wanted to buy a piece of jewellery for Yogita as this is our first Gudi Padwa as husband and wife, but shops and malls are shut. I think, in such a situation, a big pack of chocolates will be an ideal gift for her because she has a sweet tooth. We will raise the Gudi in the morning, and I am thinking of taking her for a long drive later.”
On the other hand, Yogita is also waiting to give Akshay a warm welcome. “Since the time we got married, I have been pampered and given extra attention on every special occasion. But this time, I want to make Akshay feel special. I am in my last trimester, so it won't be possible for me to prepare special dishes for Akshay all by myself. However, I have requested my mother to make his favourite dishes on Gudi Padwa. As Akshay is very particular about his diet, we will have healthy alternatives to the traditional desserts,” says Yogita.
