Marathi cinema's ace filmmaker Swapna Waghmare Joshi is well-known for her Marathi blockbuster films like ‘Mitwaa’, ''Laal Ishq', 'Fugay' and many more. Swapna's work in the Marathi industry has been duly respected and her films are definitely worth watching.

The Swapna Waghmare Joshi directorial, 'Madhuri' was backed Mohsin Akhtar Mir, which also happens to be his first Marathi production venture. It featured stars like Sonali Kulkarni, Sharad Kelkar, Sanhita Joshi, Akshay Kelkar, and Subodh Bhave in key roles. The story of the film revolves around lead actress (played by Sonali Kulkarni) as Madhuri, who is diagnosed as Retrograde Amnesia which leads to loss of memory. The effort that director Swapna Joshi has put in is commendable.

John Abraham first Marathi productions venture 'Savita Damodar Paranjpe' which is based on popular Marathi play of the same name. The filmmaker Swapna Waghmare Joshi’s unfolding the story of a woman seeking revenge from the guy who ditched her. Subodh is playing the role of is playing as Sharad Abhyankar, a husband of Trupti Toradmal (Kusum) who unexplained physical and mental trauma which have affected the couple’s relationship. As a psychological thriller, SDP is worth a watch, primarily for the interesting story and performances.

Swapna Waghmare Joshi's directional 'Mitwaa' is a tragic love story which is set in the backdrop of Goa. The filmmaker has presented the plot beautifully and it has substance with emotion. The movie counts on good music, excellent performances, and superior technical support, starring Swwapnil Joshi, Sonalee Kulkarni and Prarthana Behere in lead roles. 'Mitwaa' was a classic love triangle between Swwapnil, Sonalee, and Prarthana. The film was a clear box-office hit, running for more than 25 weeks across Maharashtra.

'Laal Ishq' is a romance-mystery-thriller film, directed by Swapna Waghmare-Joshi and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and co-produced by Shabina Khan, which released on 27 May 2016. Bhansali, Waghmare Joshi, and Swwapnil, the three pillars that Laal Ishq rests on, have built their careers on romantic dramas. Swwapnil Joshi, Anjana Sukhani, and Sneha Chavan played the lead roles respectively. The movie was the debut for Anjana Sukhani in Marathi films. 'Laal Ishq' is a love story entwined with a murder that takes place in a resort, and the prime suspects for the murder are the two leads of the film.

Swapna Waghmare Joshi's directorial 'Fugay' will remind you of Bollywood's 'Dostana'. 'Fugay' is a tale of the strong bond of friendship between Aaditya (Swwapnil Joshi) and Hrishikesh (Subodh Bhave). These two splendid actors add a life to the average plot of the film. The chemistry of the duo entertains you throughout the movie. Though the genre was a tad new to Marathi audience, the film balances fun, novelty, emotions and family content very well.
