Everyone who has followed or has some knowledge about the eminent artist MF Husain would know that he was averse to wearing footwear.

So, when the latest teaser of Ravi Jadhav's '

Nude

', exploring Naseeruddin Shah's role released, one cannot help but draw similarities between the character and Husain.

The teaser starts with Naseeruddin, who plays a well-known artist in the film, getting out of his shiny luxury car, sans footwear. We are then taken to the college painting studio where the protagonist, played by Kalyanee Mulay, questions the artist as to why he paints nudes.


Further into the teaser, there is a passing mention of two popular paintings of Husain when Naseeruddin says, "People never objected when I painted horses or angels. It was when I painted humans that the problems started..." It is important to note that Husain was never welcome in the country after his nude paintings of Hindu

gods and goddesses

stirred up a controversy.

Though nothing has been said clearly yet, all the signs point towards Naseeruddin's role inspired by Husain. For confirmation, we might have to wait for a week perhaps.
