While the entire team put in lots of preparation, did workshops and more, Lalit decided to go an extra mile by staying back with his director in Pune through the course of shooting the film. Lalit says, “For me, a film is a marriage of minds and considering the fact that Mohit and I were working together for the first time, it effectively became like a
live-in
that was imperative to both of us as a process. I stayed at Mohit’s house for a month and he was an extremely good host, besides being a very considerate director. Whenever he was free from his other pre-production work, he’d sit with me to discuss the subtext and underlying meaning of each scene of the film.”
Being foodies, the two also bonded over good food in the city. “We connected on a whole new level thanks to food. It was a great way for me to unwind and unlearn to play this new character. The icing on the cake was that I got to spend so much time in Pune, a city I am very fond of,” adds Lalit.
