Neelam Shirke remembers her birthday for this reason more

’s mother used to celebrate her

birthday

with great zeal. She used to get her share of

chocolates

on the day. The celebrations used to extend to the next day when her friends came over.

But her best birthday was when she turned 16! She was in her eleventh standard. "That day my mother was not pampering me. And when I asked her if she remembers if it’s my birthday today? She said, just pretended that I reminded her. I assumed that she has forgotten my birthday,” said Neelam talking to a leading Marathi daily.

This made Neelam cry. But what was planned was a total

surprise

for her. When her aunt called her outside, she saw her friends with gathering with a

cake

for her birthday party.
