Independence Day special: Some patriotic Marathi movies you should not miss

Wondering what to do this Independence Day?? Well, immerse yourself in the shades of patriotism. Here we have some of the greatest stories of our legendary freedom fighters which will fuel your love for the nation. Just like Bollywood, our Marathi film industry has also got some masterpieces which will give you goosebumps. Here are some Marathi biopics and period films which you will surely love to watch:

2/6

'Ek Krantiveer: Vasudev Balwant Phadke'

Directed by Gajendra Ahire, the film unfolds the pre-independence era which revolves around the struggle and revolt of Vasudev Balwant Phadke to throw out British Raaj. It's about his activist group Ramoshi who started an armed struggle and captured the city of Pune for a while. The group launched raids and obtained funds to feed farmers. Its an amazing story of how Phadke, even after being exiled, continued his fight against the British. Ajinkya Dev has done complete justice to the character. This struggle story for 'Swarajya' is worth the watch.

3/6

'Lokmanya – Ek Yug Purush'

'Lokmanya – Ek Yug Purush' is a masterpiece with Subodh Bhave in the lead, who played a sparkling Lokmanya Tilak in the movie by Om Raut. While watching this movie you are sure to feel history being live in front of you. The narration of the film is simply amazing. The director has beautifully portrayed Tilak's character by showing his struggles and achievements in the pre-independence era. Nobody else than Bhave could have played this intense role of Tilak with such finesse. This film has magnificently shown the journey of Lokmanya Balgangadhar Tilak from his childhood to a freedom fighter. This film is truly an inspiration.

The film follows the story of the trials and tribulations of the great freedom martyr Rajguru who sacrificed his life for the noble cause of India's freedom. Inspired by Lokmanya Tilak, Rajguru started a strong revolt against British rule, and the film chronicles this stage of his journey and the difficulties he faced.

'Veer Savarkar '

Produced by Sudhir Phadke, this movie is a life story or a highlight on the struggles of Swatantryaveer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar during the pre-independence period. Such legendary men are born once in a lifetime and his sacrifice for India couldn't be put down in a single film, still, the director has made an amazing effort to portray the great national hero in the best possible way. Shailendra Gaud has done an excellent job as Savarkar in the movie. The situation Savrkar faced while fighting for freedom will surely moisten your eyes.
