The writer-director of the play, Shilpa Sawant says, "The intention behind presenting the play was to highlight the plight of the manhole cleaners. Plus, we want to awaken and enlighten the society as well. It is disheartening that even though these workers work hard so hard, they don't get the compensation that they deserve. I feel that they deserve to be happy. They should get the right to live as any other human being. But unfortunately, the situation still remains unnoticed. As a writer and director, I was surprised to learn this hard-hitting fact. So, I am sure our play will compel people to drag their attention towards the unfortunate lives that manhole workers are leading."
