Theatre actress Lalan Sarang passes away

Veteran actress well known for her roles in plays like

Sakharam Binder

, Kamla, Gidhade etc. passed away on Friday morning in Pune due to old age. She was 79 years old. The actress was also known for her culinary skills and had appeared on various cooking shows on the television.

The actress was born on 26 December 1941 in Goa and was considered as a

bold actress

in the Marathi

theatre

scenario. Besides acting in various plays, she had also acted in movies like Samna, Ha Khel Sawlyancha. Her roles in Marathi plays besides being entertaining, were also able to create awareness about various issues in the society.

In 2012, the actress made a comeback to the stage with the play Kaalchakra, written by

Jaywant Dalvi

. As per reports, the actress' last rites will be performed in Mumbai today.
