Box office and unpredictability go hand in hand. Even the most experienced filmmakers have admitted that there is no formula for box office success. Biggest of films turn out to be disasters while there are others which manage to make a mark despite having a low budget.

Love Punjab
,’ starring Amrinder Gill and Sargun Mehta, has surpassed the opening weekend business of big Hindi films like ‘
Airlift
’ and ‘
Bajirao Mastani’ in Australia and New Zealand. Even this week’s Punjabi release, ‘Ardaas’ too managed to be ahead of ‘Airlift’ as far as the first weekend business in Australia is concerned. The information was shared by well-known film critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh on his Twitter account.
It should be noted that a great number of NRIs, especially Punjabis reside in these countries, which seems to have given these two Punjabi films an edge over major Hindi films like ‘Airlift’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani.’
