After half a century, ‘Nanak Naam Jahaz Hai’ is all set to get a remake; details inside

Punjabi cinema is good at picking up the trend of sequels and threequels, but remake of old classics is not something that the filmmakers have tried their hands in. However, with the remake of one Punjabi cinema’s classic ‘Nanak Naam Jahaz Hai’, it seems like the trend might pick some pace.

Released in 1969, ‘Nanak Naam Jahaz Hai’ is a cult Punjabi movie starring Prithviraj Kapoor, IS Johar, Som Dutt, Veena, Nishi and Vimmi among others. Now after a good 50 years, in 2019, the news of this film being remade is creating a lot of buzz.
The producer duo - Maann Singh Deep and Kalyani Singh is bankrolling the project with the same title, and the latter is also the one to work on the script and direct the film. Further, the revamped version will be starring Yuvraj Hans, Drishtii Gwal, Yaminii Malhotra, Aman Dhaliwal, Vindu Dara Singh,Dolly Mattoo, Dr.Naval Kumar Verma, Ratan Aulakh with Sardar Sohi and Mukesh Rishi.
According to the producer Maann Singh Deep, some new faces like Yuvraj Singh Aulakh and Bhawna Sharma will also be introduced in the movie. Also, the work on the movie’s songs has also begun.
