Jagdeep Sidhu’s last work as a writer was ‘Lekh’. Starring Gurnam Bhullar and Tania, the movie earned a lot of love, and attention and left the cash registers ringing at the box office.
The month of May is going to be a month of bliss for cinephiles, as every week a new Punjabi movie will be released! Yes, right from the first week the dose of entertainment will begin with ‘Maa’, an emotional tale, and it will end with a movie that tells the real-life story of Manga Singh Antal, titled ‘Dakuaan Da Munda 2’.

Starring Gippy Grewal, Babbal Rai, and Divya Dutta in the lead, ‘Maa’ will be making it to the big screen on the first Friday of May, i.e. May 6. It is a story of a mother who raises two boys - one who she gives birth to, and the other who she adopts. Her love sees no difference between the adopted one and the one she carried in her womb. However, the trailer shows that with time her own blood turns a little harsh towards her, but the adopted child never leaves her side.
At the same time, people try to break this mother’s family and even wish to take away their land in the village. And this mother, who is as delicate as a flower for her son, turns as tough as a nail when it comes to protecting her family and land.

With Amberdeep Singh’s writing and Amarjit Singh Saron’s direction, the laughter riot titled ‘Saunkan Saunkane’ will be released in the second week of May - May 13. In the lead are Punjab’s highly loved stars - Ammy Virk, Sargun Mehta, and Nimrat Khaira. The story is about a couple who can’t become parents, and therefore the husband is pressurised to bring home a second bride, that too not just by his own wife. His first wife persuades him to get married to her own younger sister. And when finally he agrees to do the same, and the second wife comes home, begins the armageddon of ‘Saunkan Saunkane’.

After giving us movies like ‘Uda Ada’, ‘Aate Di Chidi’, Neeru Bajwa is all set to bring another movie highlighting a prominent social issue. On May 20th, she will be making it to the big screen with her movie ‘Kokka’, which sheds light on the issue of ageism in society. Starring her and Gurnam Bhullar in the lead, the movie is about a woman who is 40 years old and is single. She is looking for a perfect husband, but just because she doesn’t fit in the ‘eligible’ age bracket, gets the wackiest marriage proposals. However, then she meets a guy younger than her, who is looking for his perfect match, and then the two fall for each other. But as soon as things start to turn serious between them, the guy breaks everything into pieces by pointing out their age difference.
What happens next, can only be known once the movie is out in the theatres.

Marking the comeback of Harbhajan Mann on the big screen and the debut of model Delbar Arya as a female lead in Pollywood, ‘P.R’ is scheduled to be released on May 27. The film is by Manmohan Singh, whose story revolves around the people who move to Canada and struggle to get P.R. In their journey to becoming permanent residents, they face a number of challenges, which reportedly this movie will be highlighting.

Bringing to light the true story of Manga Singh Antal, the movie is about a man whose addiction of just drugs and power leads to his debacle. This is without a doubt a very intense drama, which talks about the harsh reality of society in a very serious manner.
