‘Ardaas Karaan’

Do you ever take time out to think about the most beautiful blessing that God has graced you with? The most precious gift given by the almighty to every one of us is ‘life’; and we hardly take the same seriously. Whenever we get surrounded by sorrows or difficulties, we think of ending it. We don’t even realize that life is not just meant to live but love, and this is exactly what Gippy Grewal’s ‘Ardaas Karaan’ taught us.

‘Uda Aida’

Education is considered as a building block, and understanding it’s importance is essential indeed. But many a time, we get occupied by superficial aspects of education and in the impact of same, fail to understand the real meaning of learning. Through ‘Uda Aida’, Neeru Bajwa, Tarsem Jassar, and the whole team tried to give a message, that learning and growing are more important than aping. It showed how running after the language English, just because it makes you look smart is not the smartest thing to do. To stay connected with the roots, to never get away or forget one’s mother tongue, is what helps in the longer run.

‘Munda Hi Chahida’

Though we are living in an era where they say boys and girls are equal in all senses, do they really mean it? Even to date, a boy is considered as the torchbearer of the family, the one who will take forward the family’s legacy. Due to this, many a time a mother hears so many cuss words in one way or the other. The movie shows a mirror to this very section of society; shows a mirror to the patriarchy.

‘Rabb Da Radio’

Released in 2017, ‘Rabb Da Radio’ is counted among one of the Punjabi classics. The movie is from the genre of family drama, which gave out a message that nothing comes above true relationships. The movie shows how the ego of one person led to the splitting of a family, and the efforts of another made them reconcile. It shows that it’s never too late to realize your mistakes and patch up with your loved ones.

‘Ardab Mutiyaran’

‘Ardab Mutiyara’ with the tag line of ‘why should boys have all the fun’, is one of the most loved Punjabi movies of last year. The movie shows a number of things, and all of them give out strong messages. For instance, it shows Sonam Bajwa playing the character of Babbu Bains, a strong independent girl who lives life on her condition. Gender biases and family politics don’t affect her. She makes sure to stand for herself and doesn’t depend on her family or husband to support her.
