Police complaint filed against Tauba Tauba singer Karan Aujla ahead of his Chandigarh show: Report
Punjabi singer Karan Aujla, known for his powerful voice, has a huge fanbase in India and abroad. However, his upcoming show in Chandigarh on December 7 has sparked controversy after a local resident, Professor Panditrao Dharnevar, reportedly filed a police complaint against Aujla, accusing him of promoting harmful content through his songs.
According to ABP News, Dharnevar claims that Aujla's songs encourage alcohol use, drugs, and violence. He has requested that the singer refrain from performing tracks like "Chitta Kurta," "Adhia," "Few Days," "Alcohol 2," "Gangsta," and "Bandook" during his Chandigarh show. Dharnevar further stated that if Aujla sings these songs, he will file a defamation lawsuit against the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and the Director General of Police (DGP) of Chandigarh.
Earlier this year, while performing at a concert in London, Aujla was hit by a shoe thrown from the audience. The singer was offended and challenged the person who threw the shoe to come up on stage.
This is not the first time Karan Aujla's music has faced criticism. Previously, Dharnevar had also filed a complaint against Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh, leading the Telangana government to issue a notice to him.
On the work front, Karan Auijla's most recent work is the catchy song 'Wavy' which is trending for all the right reasons. The song is composed, crooned, the lyrics is penned by Karan Aujila. Jay Trak provided the music for the song.
Last month, Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh received a notice from the Telangana government ahead of his performance in Hyderabad as part of the Dil-Luminati tour. The government set certain restrictions for the concert, including a ban on children being present on stage. Additionally, the notice requests that Dosanjh refrain from performing songs that promote alcohol, drugs, or violence. Concerns were also raised about the potential harm of loud sounds and flashing lights to children during the event.
