May 2023 is going to be a bliss for Punjabi cine lovers as this month not one or two but eight films are releasing. Each one of them has a unique concept, different from the others. Further, many of the movies showcase pairings like Diljit Dosanjh and Nimrit Khaira, Sargun Mehta and Ajay Sarkaria, and many more.

The Punjabi film that will be making it to the big screens in the first week of May is 'Jodi'. Starring Diljit Dosanjh and Nimrit Khaira, the film is slated to be released on May 5. It is touted to be a romantic drama that has been written and directed by Amberdeep Singh. The film is one of the highly anticipated Punjabi movies for many reasons, one of which is the star cast. It is the first time that Diljit and Nimrit will be seen together. Also, Amberdeep Singh's writing and direction are another USP.
On May 12, the film 'Painter' will be making it to the silver screen. Written and directed by Taj, the film has Mehraaj Singh, Akriti Sahota, Isha Gupta, Gurpreet Toti and many others in the cast. Further, Sukh Kharoud will be seen in a guest appearance in the movie. As far as the genre of the film is concerned, it is a love story packed with dreams and emotions.
There's no one but three movies releasing on May 12, one of which is 'Lehmber Gini'. Marking the debut of Mahira Sharma as the main lead in Pollywood, the movie is a romantic comedy. Further, the film stars Ranjit Bawa as the male lead and Sarabjit Cheema in pivotal roles. Directed by Ishaan Chopra, the movie has been written by Upinder Waraich.
Another actor who is making his debut in Pollywood this year is Raghav Rishi. He will be introduced via the movie 'Nidarr' which is slated to be released on May 12. Other cast of the movie include Vikramjeet Virk, Mukesh Rishi, Kulnoor Brar, and more. Directed by Mandeep Chaahal, the film's story and screenplay are by Marukh Mirza Beig.
Written and directed by Amanmeet Singh, 'Mera Baba Nanak' is scheduled to be released on May 19. The film is an inspiring spiritual tale that talks about the teachings of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The film's cast includes Vikramjeet Virk, Amanmeet Singh, Harshjot Kaur, Kul Sidhu, and other stars.
Another film that will be making it to the silver screen on May 19 is 'Sidhus of Southall'. The movie stars Sargun Mehta and Ajay Sarkaria in the lead. This is the first time these two stars will be seen working together. Other stars to be seen in the movie are Prince Kanwaljit Singh, BN Sharma, Iftikhar Thakur, Amar Noorie, and Jatinder Kaur. Further, the film has been directed by Navaniat Singh, and the story and screenplay are by Inderpal Singh.
The third film that is releasing on May 19 is 'Junior'. Touted to be a suspense thriller whose tagline says 'The biggest manhunt of a man on a hunt', the film has been directed by Harman Dhillon. The movie stars Amiek Virk, Kabir Bedi, Ajay Jethi, Kabir Singh, and others.
The last film that will be making it to the big screens in the month of May is 'Godday Godday Chaa'. The film is scheduled to be released on May 26. It stars Sonam Bajwa, Tania, Gitaz Bindrakhia and Gurjazz in the lead. The film has been directed by the National Award-winning director Vijay Kumar Arora and written by Jagdeep Sidhu.
