Weekend roundup: Punjabi movies and artists who made headlines

The weekend roundup is back to give a scoop of all the movies and Pollywood stars who stirred a buzz in the industry this week. Thus, if you think you have missed on all that happened in Pollywood, here’s a brief note for you. Scroll down and enjoy reading:

‘Afsar’

The trailer of Tarsem Jassar and Nimrat Khaira starrer ‘Afsar’ was released this week. Featuring the lead pair with Karamjit Anmol and Gurpreet Ghuggi, the trailer was packed with the right punch of comedy. The trailer showcased Tarsem Jassar’s struggle to impress Nimrat Khaira’s father. This will be the first time the audience will get to see a comic side of Tarsem. Nimrat Khaira, on the other hand, is marking her debut as a female lead with ‘Afsar’.

Parmish Verma

Last week the reports of Parmish Verma and Wamiqa Gabbi sharing the screen space were doing the rounds. This week the Punjabi gabru confirmed that he is doing a movie with the Pollywood beauty, by sharing the poster of the movie,‘Dil Diyan Gallan’. Parmish Verma earlier through his social media posts hinted at a big surprise coming for his fans. That surprise was none other than this movie, as besides being in the lead cast, he has worked on the script and will take care of direction as well.

Pankaj Batra

Pankaj Batra is leaving no stone unturned for his debut production project. First, he got three famous Pollywood celebs Jassie Gill, Ranjit Bawa and Ninja on board, then he roped in Navneet Kaur Dhillon as the female lead and recently he made the ‘Diamond’ fame Gurnam Bhullar a part of the team. He shared the picture of him along with himself and the male lead cast and captioned it as ‘Youth Brigade’. Pankaj Batra’s maiden production is slated to release on 22nd February 2019.

‘Son Of Manjeet Singh’

The poster of television fame Kapil Sharma’s debut Punjabi production ‘Son Of Manjeet Singh’ released this week. The poster featured Gurpreet Ghuggi carrying a young lad on his back. The movie is about the bond between a father and son and the poster somewhere justifies the concept. There are also reports that Kapil Sharma might lend his voice to one of the songs of his maiden production. ‘Son of Manjeet Singh’ is scheduled to release on 12 October.

Nav Bajwa

Actor turn director Nav Bajwa shared the poster of one of his upcoming projects for 2019. The movie has been titled as ‘Kitty Party’ and is said to be from the genre of comedy-drama. While sharing the poster, Nav mentioned that the movie is about middle-class housewives. Nav Bajwa has written the script of the same and will be directing the movie himself. The cast of the film includes Nav Bajwa, Jaswinder Bhalla, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Kainaat Arora, Anita Devgan, Upasna Singh, Rana Ranbir, Neelu Kohli and Mani Boparai. 12 July 2019 has been marked as the release date for the movie.
