Punjabi celebrities who made a come back in 2018

Besides bringing in new talents and concepts, 2018 has also witnessed the comebacks of some popular artists. From Gurdas Maan to Manav Vij, a couple of prominent Pollywood stars have marked 2018 as their year of return to Punjabi cinema. Read on to know more:

Gurdas Maan

The living legend of Punjabi entertainment world Gurdas Maan made his way back to the Pollywood industry after a long break of four years. ‘Nankana’ marked his comeback movie in the industry in 2018. The movie was a period drama released on July 6, 2018. Rich in emotions and content, the movie was based on a message that not everyone can have everything, and thus, one should embrace what he has. Besides, it also brought forward the innocent and strong bond of a parent to their child. Before ‘Nankana’, Gurdas Maan was seen in ‘Dil Vil Pyaar Vyaar’, which released in 2014

Babbu Maan

Another famous Punjabi star who is making his comeback in 2018 is Babbu Maan. The singer-actor was last seen in ‘Baaz’ that made it to the box office in 2014. Now he is ready to hit the big screen after four years on 14 September with ‘Banjara The Truck Driver’. The movie is a period drama set in three different eras, featuring Maan in three characters. The artist will be seen as Harmek Singh presenting 1947, then Nakshatra Gill to depict 1984 and lastly, Binder Singh, showcasing the current period of 2018.

Kainaat Arora

After making her debut in 2015 opposite Gippy Grewal, Kainaat Arora almost vanished from the silver screen, until this year. ‘Jagga Jiunda E’ marked the come back of Kainaat Arora this year. The movie released on 3rd August. It is an action drama that had Daljeet Kalsi and Kainaat in the lead. Kainaat played a cop in the movie, who was romantically involved with Daljeet.

Manav Vij

Manav Vij started his career with Hindi film industry and then made his way to Pollywood. He kept on doing one or two Bollywood movies while being a prominent part of Punjabi cinema. However, after his appearance as Sukhdev in ‘Punjab 1984’, Manav Vij took a break from Pollywood for good four years. In those years, he played some pivotal roles in Bollywood and finally in 2018 he came back to Punjabi cinema with ‘Khido Khundi’. A hockey based Punjabi movie that had a blend of facts and fiction served as Manav way back to Pollywood. Manav played elder brother to Ranjit Bawa in the movie; thus, was a part of the brother duo that brought back the legends of hockey back to Sansarpur.

Pooja Verma

Pooja Verma made her debut in Punjabi film world in 2014 with ‘Baaz’. The next year she bagged another project ‘22g Tussi Ghaint Ho’ opposite Bhagwant Maan. Now after three years, she made her third appearance on Pollywood front with ‘Dakuaan Da Munda’. The movie was a cinematic representation of the highly appreciated book ‘Dakuaan The Munda’, which narrated the journey of Mintu Gurasaiya’s self-realization. Pooja played the female lead opposite Dev Kharoud.
