Feeling all excited and completely in awe of her big sister’s achievement, Deedar Kaur said, “And once again The Filmfare goes to Asees Kaur”
“I got so emotional as soon as papa told me, he is coming home with two ‘Lady Loves’ - Asees and the Black Lady, I couldn’t hold my tears. It’s of course priceless. Since childhood, I have grown up manifesting it all for Asees, and to see it come to us, in reality, is just getting close to ticking it off all on my bucket list!,” said Deedar Kaur talking to ETimes exclusively.
She further added, “And you know what comes next on the list? Bringing it home again, to my name. ‘And the Filmfare goes to Deedar Kaur!”
“Manifesting it each day, with hopes & gratitude,” concluded Deedar with a big smile on her face and bigger dreams in her eyes.
Deedar Kaur on her debut in the Hindi music scene: I’m happiest to have shown my versatility with ‘Mor Mor’ - Exclusive

Deedar Kaur is one of the most loved voices in the Punjabi music world. She has been known to lend her vocals to some of the most melodies tracks and recently released a rendition of ‘Dholna’. Not just this, Deedar also made a debut in the Hindi music scene with her song ‘Mor Mor,’ in Jahnvi Kapoor starrer ‘Goodluck Jerry’. Talking about the same in an exclusive conversation with ETimes, Deedar spilled beans on how she got the project, was it challenging or not, and what all is stored in the future.

Scroll down:

First thing first, we asked Deedar, how did you get the project? Here’s what she had to say, “Raj Shekhar, who is the lyricist of the song called me one evening! Parag Chhabra the composer of the song was also there. They asked me to hum a few lines of the song, there & then! I was standing in front of Gurudwara, so you know I had extra blessings! They loved the tone & asked me to see them in the studio the next day itself. Uske baad toh aap sunn hi rahe ho! (Rest you have been listening to it.)”

The song ‘Mor Mor’ has a Haryanvi touch to it. Thus, we asked Kaur was it a little hard to work with that dialect? While replying to the same, she had a big smile on her face. She expressed, “I’m a big bold Punjabi girl, who was born & brought up in Haryana! So now you know, it was my cup of tea.”

Besides the dialect, the genre of the song is also different from Deedar’s last songs. Thus, came our next question, - “You have been majorly known for soothing melodies, and 'Mor Mor' is from another genre altogether was it more like a challenge for you or a piece of cake?”

“I’m glad you are saying that I’m known for melodic songs. I’m happiest to have shown my versatility with this song. At times, an artist is capable of singing different genres, but mauka nahi milta (we don’t get the opportunity). I wish aise hi mujhe aur pieces of cakes milte rahe and main khati rahun aur gaati rahun ! (I wish I keep on getting such pieces of cakes, I keep eating them and keep singing),” quoted Deedar Kaur.

In the end, we wanted to know does exploring new lanes makes her feel a little nervous? This is when she told us, she has so many surprises in the kitty. She said, “Rather than being nervous, it makes me more excited. Also, I have got an album in the pipeline and it’s so full of different flavors! I have even sung in Tamil! It was indeed a thing to have done! New language, sitting with language supervisor, composers & team. So, stay tuned, more of it is on way.”
