Punjabi singers who died at a very young age

The Punjabi music world has a number of gems in its treasure trunk, a number of stars who faded away way too early. There have been a lot of Punjabi singers who bid their last adios to the world at a very young age. Today, let’s take a pause and read about them.

They say the world of fame is a lot more than just the outer glam and after knowing the story of Amar Singh Chamkila no one can agree more. The artist was known to turn into a live wire on stage. Some of his popular songs were ‘Jatt Di Dushmani’, ‘Tatwar Main Kalgidhar Di’ and ‘Baba Tera Nankana’. Unfortunately, this singer was assassinated at an age where people generally just begin their journey. Reportedly, Amar Singh was assassinated at a young age of 28. It was the misfortunate day of March 8, 1988, when Amar with his wife and two band members was allegedly assassinated by two men.

Back in the 90s, Surjit Singh Bindrakhia was one of the most powerful voices of the Punjabi music world. His talent to sing notes in a single breath was simply remarkable. He gave the industry hits like ‘Meri Nath Dig Paye’,‘Dupatta Tera Satrang Da’, ‘Lakk Tunoo Tunoo’, ‘Tera Yaar Bolda’, ‘Jatt Di Pasand’ and more. Then at the age of 41 on November 17, 2003, the artist bided adios to the world. The reason for his demise was a heart attack.

The ‘Gal Dil Di’ fame singer Soni Pabla moved to Canada in 1990s to live his dream of music. In 2002 his first album ‘Heeray’ came out and he started garnering love and fame. Unfortunately, just a couple of years after that in 2006 he collapsed while giving a performance at an event. It was 14 October 2006 and though the paramedics tried to revive him, they could not.

Kuldeep Ral popularly known as Kuly, was one of the three brothers who founded the famous group RDB. The group is known to give some of the best chartbusters, until 2011. In 2011 Kuly was diagnosed with a brain tumor and a year later on 22 May, he passed away. The artist was just 35 years old.

Raj Brar was not just a singer, but an actor, lyricist and music director. He made his way to the music world in 1992 and within a short span of time, he earned fame with songs like ‘Sarkaar’, ‘Saheli’ and more. He also acted in two movies and right before his demise, he finished the shooting of one of his films. He passed away just before entering into the 45th year of his life. He left us all on 31st December 2016 and January 3 was his birthday.
