Satinder Sartaaj to Gippy Grewal, Punjabi singers who released their tracks this week amid lockdown

Some say the glass is half full, while others say it’s half empty. The artists of the Punjabi music world fall in the former category. Thus, even the lockdown couldn’t stop them from offering music treats to their fans. While some artists made the most of the quarantine and made home videos of their songs, some others choose to release lyrical videos. But one thing was common among all, a big scoop of entertainment.

Wish to know more about it? Then just scroll down

Satinder Sartaaj

Satinder Sartaaj offered a very intellectual treat on this Baisakhi. On April 13, he released the song ‘Zafarnamah’, which was basically the victory letter written in Persian verses, sent by Guru Gobind Singh Ji to Aurangzeb after the battle of Chamkaur. In the letter the Sikh Guru mentioned how the henchmen of the Mughal emperor broke their oaths sworn upon the Qur'an. However, they were not able to fulfill their mission of bringing the Sikhs on their knees.

It was for the first time in the history that the whole ‘Zafarnamah’ was presented with a musical touch.

3/5

Gippy Grewal

Gippy Grewal made the most of the lockdown and released a homemade video of his song ‘Nach Nach’. The song featured not just one or two but thirteen artists - Gippy Grewal, Jazzy B, Sidhu Moose Wala, Bohemia, Sargun Mehta, Neeru Bajwa, Parmish Verma, Ranjit Bawa, Jassie Gill, Babbal Rai, Prince Narula, Yuvika Chaudhary and Kulshan Sandhu. Also, it has the special appearance of Gippy’s sons Ekomkar Grewal and Gurfateh Grewal. The video was shot by the comfort of home by every star’s friend or better half, and it made the audience groove in no time.

4/5

Jassie Gill

Another artist who released a home made video of his song is Jassie Gill. He made it to the music charts with his song ‘Enna Chauni Aa’, which was shot on phone by Arvind Khaira. Featuring the songster and Sara Gurpal, the song is a love ballad that tugged at the heartstrings.

Further, coming to the credits, the song had lyrics by Romaana, and music and composition by Avvy Sra.

5/5

Honey Singh

Talking about Punjabi music and entertainment and forgetting Honey Singh is a sin that we would not be doing. Yo Yo Honey Singh released the lyrical video of his song ‘Moscow Suka’. It also featured Neha Kakkar who gave Punjabi female vocals and Ekaterina Sizova lended Russian rap. Yes, the artist once again mixed Punjabi music with an international language to offer something different to his fans.
