Singer Kunwarr: Celebrating Holi as a kid was one of the best phases of my life - Exclusive

Punjabi singer Kunwarr who recently made it to the music charts with his song ‘Befikra’ sat for a hearty chat with ETimes. During the candid cup of conversation, the songster spoke about his 2022 Holi plans, his fondest memory of the festival, and much more.

Holi this year is gonna be crazy. The pandemic changed a number of things, but what it could not change has been our spirit of celebrating festivals in India. We take pride in I’m performing at a festival which is being held in Goa. So there will be music, fun, and joy all around.

I know Holi is all about colours, and people love to get all painted in different hues. However, I am a bit of a hygiene freak so colors aren’t my cup of tea. Nevertheless, I love the whole festive vibe. I enjoy the music, dancing, the fact that we get together with family and friends, and of course the excuse to binge on sweets. Honestly, I can’t imagine my Holi celebration without enjoying some barfis.

I have so many memories from my childhood, especially of Holi. Though today I am all about hygiene and colour-free Holi, in my childhood days I was a totally different person. It used to be hard for my own family to recognize me beneath all the colours. And I wasn’t alone, all my cousins were my partners in crime. Celebrating Holi as a kid was one of the best phases of my life.

There was this specific venue where we used to have our Holi party because our friend owned it and he always had an event there. The song “Bala” would be constantly playing every year. And then before we knew it became our Holi song.
