Gunner Trehan on misconceptions about Punjabi music: People believe those artists who sing gangster songs are gangsters themselves or involved with it - Exclusive

Punjabi singer and music producer Gunner Trehan who gained love and appreciation for his songs like ‘Blow’, ‘No Idea’, ‘Aura Shine’, and more, recently sat with ETimes for a candid cup of conversation. During the same, he spoke his mind on the misconceptions that are associated with Punjabi music and artists who are part of the industry.

“I've heard that people usually say in Punjab anyone can be a singer like it's easy to make a song/album. They don't realize the whole process of making a song/video takes so much time effort and capital. We come from a land of expression so yes we have a lot of talent in Punjab,” said Gunner Tehran.

“Second misconception when it comes to Punjabi music is that people believe those artists who sing gangster songs are gangsters themselves or involved with it. This is 100 percent wrong. All the artists I know who sing these kinda songs are only giving the people what they want and we usually follow the trend. There used to be a trend for all bhangra music then urban music came as a trend, then Bohemia and Honey Singh brought up more of a featuring rap trend,” quoted the musical artist.

Spilling tea further on another misconception, Gunner stated “artists actually hate each other or are jealous of each other. The more one artist grows the bigger the industry grows so in reality we always want others to do great and it usually inspires us to do better. So yes we can be competitive but we don't have any hatred it's always love.”

“Last but not least, there is a misconception related to the use of technology or autotune. The negativity that follows technology and auto-tune is strange as we also give those songs 100 200 500 million views haha. It's just a way of processing vocals and putting them on electronic beats,” concluded the singer.
