Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi's action-drama biopic 'Amaran' has been doing significantly well since its release on October 31, during the Diwali festivities. The film has been performing exceptionally well at the box office, recently surpassing a remarkable total of Rs 159 crore in earnings.
According to Sacnilk, 'Amaran' collected Rs 5.25 crore on its 12th day, contributing to a total of Rs 159 crore net in India. The film had a strong opening week, grossing Rs 114.85 crore. In its second weekend, it continued to thrive, earning Rs 7.4 crore on the second Friday, Rs 14.5 crore on Saturday, and Rs 17 crore on Sunday.
The film recorded an overall Tamil occupancy rate of 29.15% on November 11, with attendance throughout the day: morning shows at 22.68%, afternoon shows at 27.12%, evening shows at 34.58%, and night shows peaking at 32.22%. It also performed well in Telugu markets with an occupancy of 21.58%.
Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, 'Amaran' is based on the life of Major Mukund Varadarajan, an Indian Army officer who was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra for his bravery during a counterterrorism operation in Kashmir. Sivakarthikeyan portrays Major Mukund, while Sai Pallavi plays his wife, Indhu Rebecca Varghese.
The film has been praised for its engaging narrative and strong performances from both leads. With a production budget of around Rs 120 crore, 'Amaran' is already being hailed as one of the biggest hits in Tamil cinema.
