'Ponniyin Selvan 1' box office collection: Mani Ratnam's film ends the 4th week with collecting Rs. 225 crores in TN

Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' hit the big screens on September 30, and the film was released with high expectations and easily broke several box office records. Even though 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' has seen a drop in overseas and other locations, the film is still performing well to earn average numbers at the box office. The historical film has completed its fourth week with a collection of Rs 225 crores in Tamil Nadu and has stepped strongly into the 5th week as it gets almost 100 additional screens for the upcoming week.

Despite new releases and almost a month of a theatrical run, 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' still gets good attention from the fans as the brilliantly made historical film is a sure one to be enjoyed in theatres. The overall box office collection of 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' stands around Rs 480 to 485 crores, and the film is expected to earn over Rs 500 crores to become the second film to achieve the mark after Rajinikanth's '2.O'. The makers are expected to announce the 500 crore achievement officially when the film touches the historical mark as they have been announcing the collections officially whenever the film achieved a landmark.

Meanwhile, 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' is gearing up for an OTT release and the film will be available for streaming from November 4th for a rental of Rs 199.
