In recent years, Telugu and Hindi cinema have successfully carved a niche for themselves in the United States, the largest international market for Indian films. Tamil cinema, on the other hand, has seen only select stars like Thalapathy Vijay and Rajinikanth achieve significant traction and box office business in this region. However, Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi's 'Amaran' shuffled things up a bit with their impressive $1 million haul in the US markets.

Now, anticipation is building around the upcoming Tamil film 'Kanguva', starring Suriya, Bobby Deol, and Disha Patani in lead roles. The audiences eagerly the film's release which is currently slated for 14th November 2024. With just 2 days to go before its premiere shows, it has been receiving a lukewarm response from the audience. The film has just managed to sell over 6,000 tickets from its nearly 1,118 shows, collecting a total amount of US $ 133,484 (Rs 1.12 crore) for its premiere shows. In comparison, 'Pushpa 2' which is almost a month away, has sold 4 times the tickets and collected 5 times the money earning an estimated $600K to date.

With just two days to go before the film releases, the film needs to see a major spike in its ticket sales and collections to change its fate at the box office. Kanguva is a fantasy action film directed by Siva and is backed by K. E. Gnanavel Raja who last produced Chiyaan Vikram, Parvathy and Malavika Mohanan starrer Thangalaan.
