Kris Srikkanth was a former Indian cricketer, and he represented team India in the title-winning 1983 cricket WorldCup. The Chennai-based cricketer was supposed to play one of the friends of Kamal Haasan in 'Panchathanthiram'. But later he was replaced by Yugi Sethu due to some reason, and the popular cricketer from Tamil Nadu didn't turn towards cinema then.

'Panchathanthiram' Jayaram, Sriman, Ramesh Aravind, and Yugi Sethu played Kamal Haasan's friends in the film, while Simran played the female lead. The dialogues for the comedy-drama were penned by Crazy Mohan, and it turned out as the main reason for the film's reason.
